Art of Handmade is now KaroNZ
Art of Handmade is my home-grown business born from my passion for all things natural and hand crafted. Our product range includes Jessops soaps and the newly launched Karo brand range of hair and skin care products.
Art of Handmade originated in 2018. I had previously met Mary and Rob Jessop at the local Ohope markets. I was so impressed with their natural product range of soaps and hand creams and became a convert user myself. In 2018, I had the opportunity to buy Jessops and my desire is to grow this business so more people have easy access to quality natural products at an affordable price.
Art of Handmade HQ is in Whakatane. I enjoy a rural lifestyle growing my own fruit and vegetables, meat and eggs. I love it best when I am making things - jams and pickles, home baking, or crafting.
It is important for me to know that what I am putting on to my skin and hair is natural and that the product is made with the sensitive skin in mind. We aim to source local, spray free, organic ingredients, as much as possible.

Art of Handmade is now very proud to be able to offer the Karo range of skincare and hair products to you.
The Karo brand range of hair and skin care products is new but the core product range is based on long-standing, proven recipes previously marketed under the Jessops brand.
Client demand for natural creams and shampoos led Rob and Mary Jessup to have conversations with the late Claude Stratford, founder of Comvita who had already been making and selling health products using Manuka honey. Once he retired, Rob and Mary purchased his 50 year-old recipes to expand their range.
So many people suffer from allergies and skin conditions, so it is our biggest joy hearing customers’ positive experience using our products and knowing they are genuinely helping their health and wellbeing.
The Karo product range will appeal particularly to those people looking for proven handcrafted products catering for sensitive skin and who want to treat themselves to the luxury of nature.
Jessops
Jessops Natural Home Made Soaps was established in 1992 by Rob and Mary Jessop. It was their desire to make soap for sensitive skins using their home-grown feijoas, dried lavender and lavender oil. With much determination their range of 8 natural organic soaps were created and have proved to be extremely popular.
What sets Jessops apart from others is the use of real fruit and flower oils in all their soaps, sourced from the very best NZ has to offer.
